SIP overview

What SIP gives you and when to use it.

Beyond the Suzko softphone, you can register any SIP device — desk phones, PBXes, softphones like Zoiper / Linphone, IVR systems — against your Suzko numbers.

Why use SIP

  • You already have a desk phone (Polycom, Yealink, Grandstream).
  • You run an on-prem PBX (FreePBX, Asterisk, 3CX) and want Suzko as the carrier.
  • You want phones that work without a Suzko app installed.

How it works

Each number can have a SIP endpoint. The endpoint has:

  • A SIP domain (e.g. your-acct.sip.suzko.net)
  • A username + password unique to the endpoint
  • Optional IP allowlist (only accept registrations from your IPs)

Devices register against the SIP domain, then the number rings them on inbound and can dial out using the endpoint creds.

Creating an endpoint

/tools/business-phoneNumbers → pick the number → SIPCreate endpoint.

We generate creds. Use them to configure your device.

Coexisting with the softphone

A single number can route to both the softphone team AND a SIP endpoint. Both ring simultaneously, first to answer wins. Configure via the Call flow for that number.

Setup guides

Per-device:

For PBX integration (FreePBX, Asterisk, 3CX), the SIP creds plus the domain + port info on the endpoint page is all you need. We match standard SIP trunking — most PBXes have a Suzko / generic SIP trunk template that just works.
